To my married friends, I have some encouragement for you today.

This morning, I spent some time reflecting on Genesis 1, 2, and 3—the creation story, which I find endlessly fascinating. I never seem to tire of it. In those chapters, we see how God spoke everything into existence by His powerful word. He still holds dominion over all things—on earth, beneath the earth, and in the heavens. What stood out to me today, however, was how God created man and, realizing that man needed a helper, created a wife for him.

🌀 God is a God of solutions. Where there is need, He provides.

Adam and Eve had the most beautiful time of their lives, living in harmony with God, until Satan came and deceived Eve, leading both to sin. This marked the end of their untainted joy in God’s presence. The fall of man brought about a separation between humanity and God. The perfect harmony and beauty that God intended for marriage—“naked and unashamed”—was shattered. From that point, conflicts, hatred, division, resentment, fear, anxiety, disease, death, lack, stress, immorality, and ungodliness became part of the human experience. Marriage, as we know it, was never the same.

💧 Here’s the encouragement… Despite this, God, knowing the effects of the fall, sent a permanent solution in the form of Jesus Christ. By believing in Him, we can receive eternal life and experience the Kingdom of God, even here on earth as it is in heaven.

As I reflected on this, several key insights resonated deeply with me:

🌹 1. No one is perfect. We’ve all sinned and fall short. Every day, we need God’s mercy. This includes your spouse. Choose to see them through the lens of God’s grace.

🌹 2. We all need forgiveness daily. God’s grace is available to everyone who believes. Don’t be quick to judge your spouse or a struggling marriage. The best we can do is support those who are going through tough times.

🌹 3. God will always provide a solution. Just as He found a way to redeem mankind after the fall, He will find a way to restore your marriage too. God’s timing is perfect, even if it seems long to us. At times, you may endure periods of silence, separation, or even divorce, but trust that God will align everything in His perfect time.

🌹 4. Develop a close, personal relationship with God. He has the wisdom to guide you through life’s puzzles. He knew you before you were born and knows your end from your beginning. Reach out to God, find joy, peace, and contentment in Him, and you will have plenty to share with others.

🌹 5. In marriage, you both need to connect spiritually. Marriage doesn’t just happen. Both of you must intentionally build spiritual intimacy to harness the full blessings God has for your union. Forgiveness, love, kindness, gentleness, and self-control are not easy, but with God’s power, you can bear those fruits.

🌹 6. God has a purpose for every marriage. It is to raise godly children and to build a community, using the resources God has entrusted to you.

Marriage is not only possible but beautiful. It is God’s will. Pursue oneness in Christ together, and let Him guide your journey.
