Forgiveness is a conscious, intentional choice to let go of feelings of anger or vengeance toward those who have wronged you, regardless of whether they deserve your forgiveness. It doesn’t mean minimizing or ignoring the gravity of the offense, nor does it involve forgetting, excusing, or condoning the harm done.
Instead, forgiveness offers the forgiver inner peace and liberates them from the damaging effects of resentment. It’s about releasing deep-seated negative emotions, allowing you to acknowledge the pain without letting it define who you are, and enabling you to heal and move forward with your life.
The Easter season invites us to reflect on the forgiveness we have received for past, present, and future wrongdoings. Take time to evaluate your life, recognize those who may need your forgiveness, and offer it—starting with yourself.
